IMPORT AND EXPORT

Video

Export › Video makes the animation into a video file, for social sites, slides and video editors. Every frame is drawn exactly and encoded by your browser, faster than real time.

Do it in the editor: guided tour5 steps · about 3 minutes · opens a practice scene

Step by step

  1. Open Export, pick Video

Click Export in the top bar, then Video across the top of the window. The preview shows the animation in the video's frame, with its own playhead and Play button.

  2. Pick the file

File is MP4 (H.264), which plays everywhere. Click WebM for a smaller file: VP9, or AV1, the smallest. PNG frames makes one picture per frame, in a .zip, for video editors. Codecs your browser can't encode aren't offered.

  3. Choose the frame size

Under Size, Frame is 1080p Full HD (1920 × 1080). Choose Square (1080 × 1080) for a feed post, or Document, 720p, Portrait 4:5 or Story 9:16; or type the pixels.

  4. Fit or fill

When the frame's shape isn't the animation's, Fit shows all of it with bars in the background color, and Fill fills the frame and crops what is left over. Click Fill (crop).

  5. Export it

Click Export .webm at the bottom right. The footer shows the progress, the size so far, the time left and Cancel; then the file downloads.

Good to know. Timing exports the whole animation or a part of it, at 30 fps (24 to 60). Compression aims for a Quality (70), a File size or a Bitrate, with a keyframe every 2 seconds. Transparent background is offered for PNG frames, and for WebM VP9 where the browser's encoder keeps transparency. Embed in your site has a muted, looping video tag with WebM and MP4 sources and a poster image; Export the set (.zip) makes them all.
