GETTING STARTED

Projects, saving and files

SVGcinema keeps the project you are working on in this browser as you go: close the tab, and it is there when you come back. To keep a project for good, share it or work on several, save it as a .SVGcinema file.

Step by step

  1. Open the main menu

Click ☰ at the top left. The file commands are in it: New project, Open, Open recent, Save, Save as, Import files and Export.

  2. Save it as a file

Click Save as…, name the file and click Save. A .SVGcinema file holds the whole project, images included. In Chrome and Edge you choose where it goes, and from then on Save (Ctrl S) overwrites it; other browsers download a new copy each time.

  3. Open a project

Open… (Ctrl O) opens a .SVGcinema file, or an .svg file as a new project. Open recent lists the last projects you opened or saved here. With unsaved changes, you are asked to save them first.

  4. Start a new project

Click New project…, set the canvas size and click Blank canvas. Open sample scene opens a tour of every feature instead.

Good to know. The browser keeps one project at a time, and clearing the site's data in the browser removes it: save the projects you want to keep. Beside the project's name, the top bar shows its file and whether it has unsaved changes.
